Something is killing
archeologists working on a dig beneath a Norman church, and this something has a
voracious appetite for energy. Had the diabolical mastermind who invented it not let
two of them escape by accident, Britain would awake one morning to see thousands of the little
critters running around—killing everybody.

So-so. Derivative (as might be expected from Terry Nation), rather uneven, and hobbled by plot holes. Professor Truman is one fat, disgusting fellow, by the way.

Jeremy Lloyd (Teddy) played Carruthers, an MI5 agent, in the short-lived stage play of The Avengers.

St. Mary's Church, Ridge, was one shooting location, as well as—you guessed it—Tyke's Water Lake (how redundant), Elstree. On Location provides a recent view of the lake.
