NIGHTMARE

Production completed: 28 January 1961
UK Premiere: 28 January 1961

Dr. Keel is called by one of his patients in a panic because her husband had disappeared. Believed to be the woman's husband, who is a noted scientist working on a top secret project, Keel is kidnapped. After he escapes, Steed convinces him to impersonate the scientist, and he is kidnapped again. Shot while escaping again, Keel is taken to a hospital. But the anesthetist is an accomplice of the kidnappers, and Steed arrives barely in time to prevent Keel's murder. The scientist then reappears, apparently suffering from temporary amnesia due to overwork.

 Trivia

The short-lived stage play of The Avengers was penned by Terence Feely and Brian Clemens.

Helen Lindsay appeared in the Police Surgeon episode, "Man Overboard," and Michael Logan appeared in "Operation Mangle."

This episode was broadcast live and never aired in London. It has not been recovered; the image shown at left is a production still (usually shot during a rehearsal).
