Episode 10: The New Avengers |

Mind your own business. A diabolical mastermind has possession of a mind-transfer device which, unlike the one used in "Who's Who???", is one-way, leaving the donor a vegetable. He's after three former operatives, each with a photographic memory and each carrying one-third of a mission-critical document, based on a system devised by Steed. Despite the Avengers' best efforts, individually at least, the documents are all retrieved from the agents' minds, and ready for sale!
It has its moments. Better than most, certainly sillier, but all too often the cute stuff is forced. And the circumstances under which the brain-drain machine is employed stretch the limits of our ability to susp-p-p-pend disbelief. Steed at least has a good time, flexing his automotive muscle out on the race track in typical cool, Steed-like fashion. Terry Wood should have ended his Avengers "career" on a relatively high note with this one episode.
Director Ray Austin, by the way, was the stunt arranger for the Emma Peel era, and made a credited appearance in "The Gravediggers."
Purdey bursts in on Gambit whilst he is posing in the nude for Helen McKay, a sculptor.
"Mike," Helen moans, "take your clothes off."
