KILL THE KING

Production completed: 30 August 1961
UK Premiere (London, Season 1): 2 September 1961

Steed is assigned to protect King Tenuphon while in London to sign an oil deal. There was already one attempt on the King's life aboard the plane bound for London. Meanwhile, a paid assassin rents the flat across from the hotel where the King is staying, and as Steed double-checks the area, the landlady tells Steed nothing—under threat of her husband's death. When a low-flying helicopter attracts royal attention, Steed averts the assassination attempt by hurling himself at the King, whose assistant is killed instead, and the King's bodyguard kills the would-be assassin.
