Rare glimpse into a lost world. (19 September) Owing to the regrettable but commonplace destruction of early tapes and films, the David Keel era is shrouded in mystery. And owing to A&E's foot-dragging on their last DVD set, us Yanks are still unable to see the remarkable artifacts that have been recently recovered. Even UK fans must go to some lengths to obtain the rare French "Kiosk" DVDs to see the two-and-one-third surviving Dr Keel episodes. However, owing to the combination of eBay and a multi-region player, I have finally gained access to the first act (~20 minutes) of the series pilot, "Hot Snow," and the full episode "Girl on the Trapeze." Visit these pages for brand new reviews and loads of great, larger-format screen caps. And although I'd previously seen "The Frighteners" on tape, that page is now updated with a revised review and lots of crisp new larger-format images, all for the benefit of fans who may have to wait a long time—or possibly (perish the thought) forever—for a precious glimpse of The Avengers' first season.

BTW, The Avengers Forever is nine years old this month—ancient in terms of the Internet, but still kicking!

Laurie Johnson Interview TODAY! (7 September) Fans in North America were treated to a radio program about composer Laurie Johnson on Public Radio's The World. Featured was an interview of Johnson, some of his music (including the theme and a bit of dialog from Avengers), and a couple of remarks by Yours Truly. Have a listen! You can also read the full transcript and see some neat images at the same time. My sincere thanks to Elizabeth Ross of The World for this fantastic opportunity! By the way, the book mentioned in the piece, Laurie Johnson's autobiography, can be purchased right from here:
