History shakeup. 8 December. Once in a blue moon, something just falls into your lap that can have an unexpectedly profound effect on your universe. While the bit of Avengers history that is about to be rewritten is admittedly pretty trivial in the grand scheme of things, it is nonetheless noteworthy, especially since it contradicts what we've all been led to believe up to now.

OK, so what the devil am I babbling on about? Well, you know who plays Peter Peel in the closing scene of "The Forget-Me-Knot"? Patrick Macnee, right? Wrong!

Courtesy of an email forwarded to me from a gentleman by the name of Joss Gower, who runs a directory for professional stunt people, Avengers history has been forever altered with the following message:

I have just looked at your web site and found it very interesting, but when I came across The Avengers I was some what saddened to find that my contribution to this wonderful series had been over looked. I started as Steed's stand-in and photo double, driving the Bentley and doing the occasional stunt. I took over Steed stunts when Rocky Taylor left. I also played the part of the policeman in "Murdersville" and doubled for many other actors. My claim to fame is that I play Peter Peel, who had returned from the Amazon to take Emma away from Steed. I remember how emotional it was for everyone on the set in the change over episode when Diana passed Linda on the stairs and I drove her away in my Rolls Royce. I hope that if you rework your excellent site you will amend a small part of it. Thank you, Paul Weston (Stunt Coordinator and Second Unit Director)

I have since been in touch with Mr. Weston, a very busy professional who has kindly agreed to participate in an interview. So, stay tuned for a detailed biography of this heretofore unknown Avengers stunter, as well as a gaggle of trivia updates.
