Happy New Year All! 31 December. Let's hope that in 2002, we can all learn to live in peace, mutual understanding and above all, hope for the future of our world. Seasonal Felicitations! 24 December. Before you settle down with your families and friends, guzzle too much drink, stuff down too much food, and wallow in an annual viewing of Too Many Christmas Trees, let me wish all visitors and contributors to The Avengers Forever a happy, enjoyable and peaceful Christmas holiday. Alan. Where It All Happened... 21 December. Or a lot of it anyway. Take a look at the On Location locations page. It's been updated to include links to websites related to the locations. Some give virtual tours of the surrounding areas, some give more information on the buildings in question, others link to pages where you can even book to stay at some of them! Well it is the holiday season! Jonathan Steed... 20 December. Been checking out the links section today, disposing of links to now non-existent sites, and generally taking a look at what's out there. One of the surprising things you find when on an Avengers web trawl is the number of sites who think our main man is Jonathan Steed! Do these people watch the show? It'll be Enema Peel next, I just know it! Today's other update is to the acronyms page which now includes BIG BEN! Who's Who??? 19 December. Two updated biographies today. In no particular order whatsoever, they are: Escape in Time's resident 'Indian', Imogen Hassall and Henley Farrer himself, Richard Hurndall. Synchronicity... 18 December. Six days ago, I revisited the biography of Johnny Vyvyan, who featured in "Look - (Stop Me If You've Heard This One) But There Were These Two Fellers..." It appears that, at the same time, Pete Stampede was revising this same biography. It goes without saying that he has done a fine job by comparison! Welcome back, Pete! Moving and Shaking... 15 December. The Movers and Shakers section given the once-over today. Entries have been added, some expanded, and links updated. Skeletons in Closets... 14 December. A minor update to the biography of Dad's Army legend, Arnold Ridley tonight. The 'Strange But True' note on the page reveals a dark secret from my past! House Calls... 13 December. The biography of the Number One Avenger, Patrick Macnee, has been updated with a TV credit from 1981, courtesy of Frank Hui. Thanks for passing on the info, Frank... They Must Have Had Bills to Pay... 12 December. The biography of diminutive actor, Johnny Vyvyan is updated tonight with some new information. Among the additions is mention of a film credit Vyvyan shared with the The Avengers' original headliner, Ian Hendry - namely a tawdry sex comedy from 1976. Obviously their electricity bills had just landed on their doormats... One Step Nearer CODA... 11 December. Three more entries added to the Semi-Official Directory of Acronyms tonight. Keep 'em coming and we can eventually rename it CODA - the Complete Official Directory of Acronyms! Yes, it taken me all day to think that one up. Perhaps I should get a life... Eee-urp! It's Jeavons! 10 December. The biography of the superb Colin Jeavons, a great Avengers guest star from "A Touch of Brimstone" and "The Winged Avenger," has some new information added tonight. She's Gone And Got Another Award, Y'Know... 8 December. News has just come through that Diana Rigg has another gong to stick on her mantlepiece. Diana received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Women in Film and Television annual awards luncheon held at The Dorchester Hotel, London, yesterday. Diana's biography and AvengerNews have both been updated to include this latest recognition of her outstanding contribution to entertainment. Visitors can read more about Diana's award at BBC News. Thanks to Gareth Humphreys for the link. SODA (Semi-Official Directory of Acronyms)... 7 December. A couple of additions to the acronyms page today. Over to You, Professor Keller... 6 December. The biography of Michael Goodliffe, memorable guest star in "The House That Jack Built" has been expanded to include new information. Richard Bates Interviewed... 4 December. Just found a very interesting online interview with former Avengers story editor, Richard Bates. While it talks in the main about his work on BBC's science fiction serial, The Tripods, Richard has some fascinating recollections about his time with The Avengers and of working in Sixties TV. Recommended. Hair Today... 3 December. Tara's changing hairstyles are the subject of a trivial update to "Super Secret Cypher Snatch" today... Man on a Motorcycle. 2 December. The biography of Nicholas Courtney, a guest star in "Propellant 23" and "Mission...Highly Improbable" gets an update today, as does that of memorable Avengers villain, Roger Delgado. Also, for those of you who might have given up on our search facility, we've only just discovered it wasn't working. Apologies for that! It's been fixed (thanks David!) and now searches the whole of TheAvengers.TV! It Had To Be Said. 1 December. Good lord! December already... Entering my third month as stand-in webmaster at The Avengers Forever while David has a break, it's now crystal clear to me that running a website of TAF's caliber is not an easy job. Granted, it's an enjoyable and rewarding one, but the past two months have made me realise what an unbelievable and impressive job David's done keeping up the momentum at The Avengers Forever for five memorable years. Outstanding. It's a great site and I'm still flattered that David asked me to step in. Anyway, reflective bit over. What's new today? What's behind the first window on The Avengers Forever's virtual advent calendar??? Actor Charles Tingwell played in "The Nutshell" and "Return of the Cybernauts," and his biography has been updated with the kind help of Stephen La Riviere. —Alan Hayes for David K. Smith |
