A webmaster's work is never done... 29 December. Having updated the images for the Cathy Gale pages from "The White Elephant" through "Lobster Quadrille," I've officially completed collecting screen grabs from the Gale DVD set, although it's becoming painfully evident that I can't possibly catch up with all of the other outstanding DVD grabs by the end of the year. Other items of note: Diana Rigg watchers might want to check their local PBS station listings (or www.pbs.org) for a drama next Wednesday, 3 January 2001, entitled "The American" (1998), which includes Rigg in the cast. On the video front, my friend Stephen has passed along this interesting rumor: "The UK DVDs have been held up. Apparently the same prints that feature on the French discs were to be used but on the British discs, but according to some sources Contender are unhappy about the appearance of the French DVDs and are preparing new prints for release over here. How much truth there is in this I cannot be sure." Ho, Ho, Ho! 26 December. After having managed to find other things to do on Christmas Day, I'm back online. For those of you who simply cannot get enough Avengers, here are ten new visitor reviews. Happy Holidays! I guess I have no life. 24 December. Here I sit on Christmas Eve working on this silly website. Ah, well, it'll be something for normal people to enjoy when they return from their normal holidays. Alert for Patrick Macnee watchers: he will be appearing in NBC's Frasier during the February ratings sweeps, alongside another British actor of note, Sir Derek Jacobi (most recently seen in Gladiator). Patrick will be playing, of all things, a thespian's womanizing father. Mike Cheyne has kindly provided a dozen more 007 connections—see if you can spot them. Stocking Stuffers. 23 December. Here's an odd bunch of new links I stumbled across...
Ripped off! 20 December. Just in time for the holidays, I came across this French Avengers site. At first I was excited to see another good-looking new Avengers site online, but after a quick look around, my excitement turned to rage. The webmaster claims my site "inspired" him (he was even interviewed about his creation). Unfortunately my site provided a LOT more than just inspiration! At his site you will find an enormous volume of material lifted from The Avengers Forever. I have issued him a demand to remove everything that is mine out of his site (which will leave precious little) or else I will work to have his site pulled down altogether. The fact that I have been planning to translate my entire site into French makes the whole issue even uglier. In happier news, Dick Fiddy has passed along some more details on Avengers Day. The First Emma Peel. 17 December. After countless visitor requests and endless online searches, here at last is the promised Elizabeth Shepherd bio. Avengers Day! 14 December. The National Film Theatre has slated Saturday 6 January 2001 as Avengers Day. Read all about it.
Keep those reviews coming. 7 December. Three new reviews. Digital fun. 6 December. What do you get when you combine great DVD stills with a paint program? "Synthetic reality." Check out the revised Emma Peel bio for the results of some digital fun. All of the "scrapbook" images were derived from wild angle shots appearing in "The House That Jack Built" that were carefully un-twisted, un-skewed and touched up. Incidentally, the opening text of the newspaper clipping appears in the Trivia section of the review page. Brother, it's COLD outside. 5 December. But here are a couple of tidbits to warm a fan's heart. First, Jon Webb has identified a heretofore unidentified acronym for "Look - (stop me if you've heard this one) But There Were These Two Fellers...," and has provided a new one for "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Station." And second, check out the all-new DVD images for Cathy Gale from "The Undertakers" through "Dressed to Kill." Likewise there are improved images for the first six Emma Peel episodes, including a new composite of Steed—a first!—in "The Master Minds" (Emma's party costume composite has been recreated as well). |
