New links. 31 March. Chris Murphy is building an Avengers Shrine. And if you're looking to buy a Steed-like bowler hat, Paul Fearon invites you to visit www.elitehats.com or to email elitehats@merseymail.com. Also some trivia added to "Death at Bargain Prices," "How To Succeed....At Murder" and "The See-Through Man" courtesy of "just another fan from Argentina." Holy mackerel, does this boy every sleep? 26 March. With the generous help of Alan and Alys Hayes, the airdates for Season 1 of The New Avengers, originally derived from The Avengers Dossier, have all been replaced with corrected dates. This necessitated reordering all but the first of the episode review pages, a daunting task to say the least, since all the cross references required revising over 160 pages and several hundred links. This frenzy of reorganization spilled over into the Foreword and Appendices. Also new this weekend are recent images of two familiar shooting locations. The email backlog is slowly being whittled down, resulting in various bloopers and trivia for "The Big Thinker," "Warlock," "Man-Eater of Surrey Green," "The Thirteenth Hole" and "The Girl from Auntie." Plus, to make matters worse for the bedraggled Dossier, about a dozen more typos have been spotted—the bloopers page has been partially redesigned as a result. And finally, an infusion of new technology has brought screen grabs to a new level of fidelity here at The Avengers Forever. Catching up with the email backlog. 19 March. Look for new news in AvengerNews, a corrected explanation of the Cathy Gale episodes appearing in Argentina, a new link for fans of the Lotus Elan+2, some great trivia for "Target!," more trivia for "The Girl from Auntie," and bloopers for "Concerto," "You Have Just Been Murdered," "The House That Jack Built" and "From Venus With Love." Also, David Morrill notes, "When I phoned in my order to Critics' Choice Video, they said I'd have to wait a couple of weeks because the Blackman videos are selling really well and they needed to restock. Great news if you ask me." I'll second that! Air schedule change for Argentina. On 16 March I received word that Uniseries has announced a new schedule for The Avengers in Argentina. See the International Scene: Argentina for details (thanks to Carlos Pagés). And there's another new visitor review. Groovy, baby! On 12 March, new sites for the long-neglected Links pages, and also tripled the number of Avengers movie reviews. First of the upgraded Cathy Gale pages. 12 March sees the first of the new DVD images, with the honors going to "The White Elephant." Attention fans of Agente Speciale... Avengers fan Marco Casadei loves this site so much that he hoped "to become a part of it." His wish came true on 11 March with his contribution of an excellent body of work on the history of Avengers episodes in Italy. Did you know that Italy was the first country outside of England to broadcast Cathy Gale episodes in 1965? And that, in Season 4, Mrs. Peel was "Miss Peel" for the Italian audience? Marco's list of original broadcast dates, networks, original titles, and title translations has been added to the International Scene: Italy. Some of Marco's information has been incorporated into the site's review pages as well. Thank you, Marco, for this wonderful material! Also: Carlos Pagés of Argentina has contributed a new Avengers desktop theme! You'll find it on the Avenge Your PC page. Cathy Gale DVDs are here! 10 March, the day many of us have been awaiting with bated breath—the first two Cathy Gale DVD sets have arrived from A&E. I must say the picture is quite, quite fantastic, even considering the original. In fact, the picture is so bloody sharp that you can see a fly that was crawling about on the monitor during the transfer from video to film. There's also some quasi-related AvengerNews that should be exciting for folks on the UK side of the pond. New guest actor bios and other stuff. 9 March, and the updates continue. This time Pete Stampede dropped by with a few more "books" (almost literally!) on guest actors, which include Julian Glover, Warren Mitchell, John Bluthal, Alan Lake and Patrick Newell. There's also a new link to check out, as well as additional material from Rafael Daloi of Buenos Aires, on his Under Cover magazine—see the International Scene: Argentina. New video source for the UK, part 2. As of 8 March you can also order PAL videos featuring Avengers stars! See the Merchandise Index for the links. It's interesting to browse through these pages and compare what's available in the UK to what's available in the US. New video source for the UK! As of 7 March you can now order PAL videos directly through this site, because Amazon.co.uk is now selling videos! Every Contender tape for both the original series and The New Avengers is available at discount prices. Check out the revised merchandise pages! In other news, there's a bit of AvengerNews. And several more visitor reviews. New video for Rigg fans. 1 March—Amazon.com now has On Her Magesty's Secret Service available on VHS tape and DVD. (thanks to Philippe Berthe) |
