27 Welcome one and all to The Young Avengers, a division of The Avengers Forever. Joseph A.P. Lloyd is a 16-year-old resident of Winchester, England. 23 Pete's Notes added to "Esprit de Corps," "The Hour That Never Was," "The Girl from Auntie" and "Look - (stop me if you've heard this one) But There Were These Two Fellers..." 21 More Companion Book Bloopers. 20 The Avenging Vehicles page has been updated with a few more details, and the FAQ page has a couple more questions answered. 18 Added Pete's Notes to "The Outside-In Man," "The Quick Quick Slow Death," "Never, Never Say Die," "The Superlative Seven," "Dead Man's Treasure," "The Interrogators" and "The Morning After." 16 Pete's Notes added to "The Nutshell," "Return of the Cybernauts," "You'll Catch Your Death" and "The Eagle's Nest." Automotive trivia added to "Mission... Highly Improbable." Also, continuity problems are now separated from the Trivia on the review pages, and appear under their own (appropriately inconsistent style) heading on the review pages. 15 The first revisions to the Avenging Vehicles page have been entered—mainly corrections on some of the specific car model descriptions. In addition, some interesting automotive information now appears in the Trivia sections of "The Fear Merchants" and "You'll Catch Your Death." 14 I've hooked up with an expert on vintage British automobiles and a fan fiction author, so watch for lot of new stuff coming soon. 13 After countless requests for information on the four-wheeled members of the cast, I've finally added the new Avenging Vehicles page. Also reorganized the Show FAQ and added a bit of new trivia to "A Touch of Brimstone" and "November Five." Stop press: The off-air copy of "The Town of No Return" I have on file (ABC New York, ca. 1987) credits Brian Clemens as screenwriter and Roy Baker as director, and so do most books. Yet the new A&E tape indicates Philip Levene as screenwriter and Sidney Hayers as director! It would seem that Canal+Image goofed when they remastered the episode. (I suspect that, rather than digitally master 26 opening title sequences, they did just one, and dropped in writer/director credits as needed—but they used the wrong ones for this the episode.) I've contacted A&E, who says they are "looking into it." 12 J.A.P. Lloyd, recent partner to Piers Johnson, was kind enough to point out a few errors on the new writers and directors pages (including one inherited from a Dave Rogers book and another from Toby Miller's). With so many "editors" out there on the internet watching my every move, my website should be perfect! Right... Also, the Guest Actor Directory now highlights doppelgangers in boldface. And finally, reviews for "Hostage" and "Forward Base" are online. (Only one left to go!) 11 Who wrote what? Who directed what? You may be surprised by the answers when you see all of the writers and directors organized in alphabetical directories for every episode. 10 A new Guest Actor Directory is complete and ready for your use. Comprising nearly 1,900 entries, the directory lists every actor that ever appeared on the series alphabetically, with character names and links to episode review pages. Also includes a directory of "regulars" and their appearances. As far as I know, this is a first. Enjoy! 9 Courtesy of friends "across the pond," some trivia tidbits have been added to the recently unearthed "The Strange Case of the Missing Corpse." 5 A site visitor spotted a missing doppelganger (T.P. McKenna in "Trojan Horse") as well as an embarrassing typo (not the first time that's happened). He also offers his explanation on the "yawn scene" in "Man-Eater of Surrey Green." Thanks, Don! Also added a few details to the FAQ page. 1 For Avengers "newbies" there is now a FAQ on the show to answer basic questions. Also, a visitor comment about transmission dates inspired me to do some checking, and I discovered that I had scribbled the airdates for the Cathy Gale episodes on A&E in the margins of a book. I've added these dates to the review pages so that now all of the Gale episodes feature original UK and US transmission dates. Note that these are not in any way "official" dates, but they're the only ones I have available at present—and I think the only ones you'll find on the internet! |
