Steed and Emma Wax Lyrical... 29 November. The Quote, Unquote feature drops by Season 5 today. It's a Macnee and Rigg two-hander this time, with some very revealing comments from a golden era of the program. A Bit of a Pot Pourri Tonight... 26 November. Dave Harding at www.innovatortv.com has contacted The Avengers Forever with the news that he has produced a documentary called The Royal Doulton Story, which is presented by Patrick Macnee. The programmes are available for purchase through the Innovator TV website, should visitors be interested. Who Are You For? 24 November. First off, it's incredibly pleasing to see how well The Avengers International Forum is going since its launch last Monday. If you've not taken a look yet, this is fast becoming the place to chat about The Avengers on the net. Long may it continue! Secondly, there is an Avengers poll at the P.U.R.R.R. - De Wrekers website. The poll page is bilingual (Dutch and English), so it's easy to vote for your favourite episode and Avengers girls. The running results are online too (linked from the poll page). eStore News: 20 November. Over at the eStore, the complete Series 4 and Series 5 DVD sets can be pre-ordered. Thanks to Grant Taylor, we can now confirm the contents of the bonus discs. Chat-A-Way: 19 November. A massive day for TheAvengers.TV today, not to mention for Avengers fans in general, as our popular discussion board, The Avengers.TV Forum is relaunched as TheAvengers.TV International Forum. The URL has changed to: http://theavengers.tv/forum/messages.asp but this is much, much more than just a migration to new webspace. From today, Avengers fans will be able to luxuriate in their new home - it's been custom-built by the webmasters at TheAvengers.TV, features greatly enhanced functionality over the server.com board, gives visitors more control over the look of the Forum (custom buttons, viewing options, help menus, etc) and, to top it all, gives Spanish speakers their own place to discuss the series. This is a huge step towards building a truly international community at TheAvengers.TV. Language settings in French, German and other languages are in the planning stages. And the best news? There are even more, equally exciting developments to come at TheAvengers.TV. Still a tease, aren't I? A doff of the hat to Mike Noon, for cheekily pointing out that the 60's real "Other Steed" was none other than Freddie Jones in "Who's Who???". Good point! That's what comes of my being blasé in yesterday's less-than-seriously considered update! The 60s' Other Steed... 18 November. Did you know that Patrick Macnee wasn't the only actor to play John Steed in the 1960s??? Well, actor Maurice Kaufmann did too! OK, so before I get you all excited at this incredible discovery, let me puncture this particular balloon a little by saying that Kaufmann was, in fact, Honor Blackman's husband. And he helped her learn her lines by reading Steed's.. This information has been added to Honor's biography and to Quote, Unquote: Season 3. Ooh, I am such a tease... Season Three Sayings... 16 November. The Quote, Unquote series stops off at Season 3 tonight. Of particular note is a distinctly non-politically correct statement from wrestler and sometime stuntman, Jackie Pallo, on his way to the hospital having been decked by the most physical of Avengers girls, Honor Blackman. Honor Blackman Vampire Slayer... 14 November. Honor Blackman's biography updated to include her most recent television credit - as a female 'van Helsing' type on the monstrously disappointing Dr. Terrible's House of Horrible, BBC2's new Hammer Horror spoof. Also tonight, a hearty recommendation to visitors to point their browsers towards swordquill.com, where a new Avengers novel by Margaret Warren is published online. Clearly a labor of love, and presented in six parts, this is accessible by following the above link, clicking on "M.P. Warren" and then on "Rough Magic", the title of the book. Margaret would be delighted to hear the comments of Avengers Forever visitors on her work. (This has also been added to the links pages here.) Celebrate the New Year with The Avengers... 10 November. Thanks to Bob Stahley for letting us know about The Mystery Channel's plans for a New Year's Avengers marathon. Controversy Corner... 8 November. I felt it was high time that someone said a few nice words about the Warner Brothers movie, and since no one else seems to want to, I have stepped into the breach. I realise this conflicts with David's thoughts on the film, but variety is supposedly the spice of life! It's November 5... 5 November. And our update has nothing to do with the Cathy Gale episode in question. Well, we like to be different... New improved photo for the Jon Rollason biography, with grateful thanks to Robert Franks for doing all the legwork to find and grab it. Cheers, Robert. Also access to biographies from pages within main site improved - links added all over the place! But Not Quite... 4 November. Just found another source of acting credits for Joanna Lumley, which has prompted a final pass over her biography. A new biography has been added for Dr. Martin King himself, actor Jon Rollason. Nearly There... 3 November. The spring cleaning (in the Fall!) of the regular cast biographies is almost done, for now at least. New credits added for Brian Clemens, Linda Thorson, Joanna Lumley and Gareth Hunt, plus the filmography on Patrick Newell's page has been completely overhauled, and now includes an extensive listing of his TV work. Credits Where They're Due. 1 November. Patrick Macnee's biography page has been revisited and a good number of additional film and television credits have been added. —Alan Hayes for David K. Smith |
